My day in the hills The tour for The Sound of Music was great. I couldn't stop humming that song in my head. Most people don't realize that's the little verse before the Maria starts singing in the movie. It's so pretty -- I've always wished they would have let Maria sing it instead of just playing it as an instrumental introduction. Anyway.
We saw the church where the Von Trapps got married in Mondsee.

The lakes and the green mountains were beautiful. We went bobsledding like maniacs down a wildflower-covered mountainside, with a lake and the hills all around us. ![]()
Some of the small towns we visited, like "Moon Lake," look like they're right out of a fairy tale.
My first grade teacher told our class that she once visited the gazebo where Liesl and Rolf danced. I promised myself at age six that I would see it someday, too. Finally, I did.

![]() Mirabell Gardens is where the kids sang "Do Re Mi." It looks exactly the same. My heart started beating with I walked where they walked and spun where they spun. I am a geek, but I loved it.
We're sitting in the YoHo bar again, and the Scottish bartender has on green plaid pants and suspenders and has really blond hair. It's not as crowded here as in Rome, which is a relief. Lots of Americans, Brits, Canadians, and Australians. Tracy Chapman is on the stereo and it's exciting me. TAKE A FAST CAR AND KEEP ON DRIVING!
I wish my sister could have been with me today. She would have gotten a big bang out of it.
I hate this pen. I can't think of anything to write. I think I'm drunk. My lips are chapped and the beer is stinging them. I feel pregnant in this sundress. My armpits are hairy. I'm hungry.
