I just listened to John Rutter's "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" and flashed back to high school chorus. We sang so much of his music. I saw a feature on him on TV recently and thought he might be the most adorable thing on two legs. He's spent his whole life at Cambridge Chapel (I think), went to school there, sang and composed there, got married there, his son was baptized there, his son sang there, and then his son got run over and killed just outside. But still he is there, writing and conducting. I don't care if his hymns are considered cheese by many -- I love so many of them, especially this one. I am kind of worn out just like the masses by parties and gluttony. Parties two nights in a row. I called in sick today, spent some time with Gena, trying to explain to her the phenomenons that are Newlyweds and Queer Eye, which somehow Italy has blocked from her consciousness. Thank God for back issues of Us Weekly. I then came home and passed out for several hours after watching Grease and Grease 2, surprise gifts from a faraway friend. Thank you, faraway friend! I watched another gift, Beautiful Girls, last night after the party, and it was as much of a delight as it always is, even though I think Annabeth Gish's Tracy is nowhere hot enough for Timothy Hutton's Willie. At the party last night almost a year to the date of the last party I went to there under much different circumstances, the last party was referenced so many times by various people that I finally just fled to the bathroom and sat on the closed toilet seat with my wine for a few minutes. J. and I had a nice moment outside in the cold during which we professed our undying love and I told him I was through being a brat about his having a girlfriend. I love Harry Connick Jr.'s "Ave Maria." I am going to Shelley's family's for dinner now, where I will eat and drink too much to be sure and hopefully laugh a lot, too. Tomorrow morning is mass with the family and then a big lunch. My mom made cornbread dressing just for me. I hope you are all happy and warm right now.
