A Thousand Pieces

I finally saw Finding Neverland. It was lovely, and the most enchanting part was sitting next to a cute guy on one side and a little girl a few seats over who sat on her knees the entire time and who, when this part came on, actually recited the words right along with Peter Pan.

You see, Wendy, when the first baby laughed for the first time,
its laugh broke into a thousand pieces,
and they all went skipping about,
and that was the beginning of fairies.

And I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. But it was a sweet and magical little moment, listening to that little girl say those words and seeing out of the corner of my eye how breathlessly she hung onto every instant of the film. I thought my heart would break into a thousand pieces. I really did.

The little boy who played Peter was the best thing in the movie, and I am so excited that he's playing Charlie Bucket. (Watch the trailer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory here.)

It was a good weekend overall. I went shopping on Friday night. Saturday had lots of napping and About a Boy and caramel corn. I spent some of Sunday rereading the first three Lemony Snicket books in anticipation of the movie. It was a beautiful day, and it was great to sit outside with my dogs in the sun. And then there was the date.

I think that every date should include a perfect gentleman, wine, Italian food, a good movie, and gelato. That is my decree.

Perhaps my appendix was not in fact combusting. Perhaps I just had a bad peppermint mocha.

I'll have you know that Zuko's tail has already wagged about five ornaments off of this little tree and shattered them into tiny shards of silver glass.

I love the sound of Mandy Patinkin's voice and the smell of grapefruit and the feel of t-shirt sheets.
