Normandy:
American Cemetery

Next was the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer that overlooks Omaha Beach. And I have to say that I don't think it's still quite hit me that we were there.

I thought of my dad the whole entire time, in every second, with every step I took, with the sight of the flag reflected in the pool and every cross and every star of David and the Louisiana soldier whose grave I came across and the Eisenhower time capsule and the breathtaking views of the beach and the cliffs and the bluest water I think I've ever seen in my life, and I wished he could have been there with us, because I knew how much it would have meant to him, and that made it mean ever so much very more to me.
