Always Standing By

If I had not stumbled across Melissa's journal years ago, I would not have started my own four years ago next month.

Her writing has made me laugh and cry and think.

Her wisdom and wit and kindness have been a joy to encounter.

Her capacity for love is an inspiration.

Her friendship is precious.

Melissa, your journal will be missed terribly and I'm certain not just by me. I understand why you're moving on from it right now, and I respect your decision, but I can't help be saddened by knowing that your words, such a touchstone for me and all of your other readers, will be gone.

"Things fall apart; the center cannot hold" ... your journal, in all of its incarnations and as you've written your way through the recent years of your life and all of its heartbreaks and discoveries and triumphs, has held my interest and my wonder and my heart. You take a little of it with you when you take down your words. Thank you for sharing them with us for so long. We love you.
